The Story Behind the Software

Jeff Cope started his career as a mechanical engineer. Every part revision was met with vitriol from the quality engineer, who was hand drawing balloons with a stencil on each dimension of the part. Then typing the expected (nominal) values into a spreadsheet-based inspection plan.

Jeff soon realized that there had to be a better, more efficient way. InspectionXpert was born in Jeff’s off hours, from a desk in his bedroom. He taught himself how to code to create manufacturing inspection software, and would work on it late at night after his kids had gone to bed. After many late nights and many cans of diet cola, Jeff solved the problem of paper inspection drawings and hand-typed inspection sheets. Jeff was so confident in the need for his solution that he started his business during the hight of the recession in 2008.

Jeff was soon fielding phone calls from manufacturers of spinal implants, satellites, rockets, power tools, construction equipment, guns, sporting goods, wind turbines, and everything else you can imagine under the sun.  Jeff began hiring like-minded people to help him provide relief to manufacturers all over the world who were afflicted with inefficient paper quality inspection processes.
